My dog has what looks liek to be a blood filled sack in her eye. What could it be?

She cant close her eye all the way, it doesnt seem to be bothering her. I heard it was a sty, but I am not sure what to do. I was told to clean it with perixode and it would go down.My dog has what looks liek to be a blood filled sack in her eye. What could it be?
It's hard to know without a picture. The first thing that comes to my mind is cherry eye. It's pretty common in certain breeds of dogs.

Is this kinda what it looks like? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_eye

My pup once had a scratch on her eye and we thought it was cherry eye, but it cleared up over night before we had a chance to take her to the vet. I would give it a day or two from when it appeared, and if it still looks the same or is getting worse, take her to the vet. Dogs sometimes don't show pain in the same way we do, so it might be bothering her even if she's not letting you know about it.My dog has what looks liek to be a blood filled sack in her eye. Have her checked by the vet. What you are describing sounds ver nuch kuje a dusease commonly know as ';cherry eye';. The inside corner of the dog's eye swells up with what looks like a sack od blood.

The common reason is tht theiur natural tear duct is blocked so there becomes a build up. Most dogs need corrective surgery in such a case. I happen to be lucky. My beagle has gotten it twice and in both cases it went away. All I did was use an eye dropper to wash out the eye involveed and it cleared it up. I know many dogs who this sis NOT work for an they all had to have corrective surgery....

ZBEWARE..... talk to the vet...some of the surgeries I have seen workied at the beginning but it CAME BACK...find out the policies, etc, before you spend the money!!! Ys, it looks bad but I knowdopgs who have had it for uears and are none the worse for wear, so to speak...

Personally, I would correct it but that's me...

Good luck
Is it on her actual eyeball or on her eyelid? What breed of dog do you have? Cherry eye is common in some breeds. I would take her to the vet. It may not seem to bother her but it could lead to other problems that could cause her to lose her eyesight.
Peroxide? Who ever told you that must be kidding! Peroxide will make your poor dog go blind so don't do that.It sounds like she has an eye infection which is painful for the dog.Your Vet would put her on Antibiotics which should get rid of it :)

Good luck
It's called Cherry Eye, and it's pretty common. But to be on the safe side you should talk to your vet
