Why were people told to not look MJ directly in the eyes?

So sad and really bummed out about the king of pop today :( but as i was watching CNN about it...a reporter being interviewed said he had the priveledge of meeting Michael but before he did meet with him he was told not to look him directly in the eyes? MJ seemed like a really nice guy so i cant imagine him flipping out? Anyone know? Thanks.Why were people told to not look MJ directly in the eyes?
Michael Jackson had low self esteem, he couldn't feel comfortable with people looking directly at him.

I have worked on film sets for a very long time. MJ is far from the only star to issue that instruction. So far from being a bad guy, it may mean that the person in question is a good guy and would naturally feel inclined to return the acknowledgment. This is distracting, and whenever stars are doing business, they need 100% concentration on their job.
it's uncomfortable for him u know. he's a nice guy. idk i can feel sadness lookin in his soft eyes even he's always smile. many people think he's a freak so they would stare at him i think that's why he would feel uncomfortable but yea we'll miss the king of pop
For all we know he was coked out and he didnt want anyone noticing that he was. That could've triggered his cardiac arrest. But like stated he most likely had low self-esteem and couldnt deal with the probing eyes of an outsider.
Well, MJ was an odd duck.





That pretty much sums it up. They ought to put that in his obit and on his grave stone.
