Politicians use broad statements to communicate to their voters - but that gives them a lot of scope to pursue completely different policies.
So body language is an important part of the overall communication.
Limited eye contact can mean negativity.
Many people are uncomfortable bending the truth whilst maintaining direct eye contact.
Of course, McCain could have been told to look only to the moderator by the Republican media advisors.
So we'll see if Palin follows the same instruction.
If not - then McCain had something to hide.
Because a brave, resolute man, with the truth on his side - is able to confront his rival.
What chance has McCain of ';pursuing Bin Laden to the gates of hell'; when he can't even look Obama in the eye?
None of these people will ever pursue anybody, anywhere, will they? They'll send other people's children to get killed doing it, just the same as always. What chance has McCain of ';pursuing Bin Laden to the gates of hell'; when he can't even look Obama in the eye?
How dare he call that haven of peace %26amp; refuge - Pakistan - the gates of Hell?!?
Oh well.. I suppose on second thoughts.
Hey, McCain was dising the brother.
He be a racist
What is the chance that you will stop posting the same asinine question every few hours?
Did it occur to you that since these men are on television and the debate is televised for the benefit of the public, that he may have been looking at the cameras in order to get his message across to the voting public?
He doesn't need to convince Obama of anything, Obama is not likely to vote for him (despite agreeing with McCain's position eight times). His job is to engage the public....the ones on the other side of the camera.
A question of equal weight would be why can't Obama look into the camera when he is flip flopping on issues (such as his 20 month long pledge to sit down with world leaders without preconditions, which he claimed never to have said)? Is it because he knows that voters will see the insincerity in his face?
See it works both ways.

See how the language of this body of works looks more convincing as a paragraph.
